I know it's not deep everglades stuff. But it's awfully buggy inland, so here's a chance to get offshore!

Got the following note from Jessica:

Hey Charlie,
Hope you are doing well! I wanted to connect to see if you would be interested in participating and/or helping recruit volunteers for an upcoming event in Biscayne?

The plan is to add a volunteer component to Biscayne's derelict trap removal projects (funded by the Trust). I recently spoke to John Ricisak from DERM who has worked on similar events in the past and will be helping with the day of logistics of putting together this volunteer cleanup. However, John and Biscayne have asked the Trust/me to help recruit and organize volunteers for clean up event.

The plan is to host a half-day cleanup on Saturday, July 15th out of Blackpoint Marina. The day falls on the season closure so any traps left in the water are considered derelict or abandoned. We are targeting shallow water areas that are best reached by canoes and other paddle-craft, so the cleanup will be paddle powered! The event is BYOB (Bring Your Own Boat) and is geared for volunteers that have prior paddle experience.

Because of your connection to the paddling community, I thought you may be able to help spread the word and recruit volunteers? I have an event page online with all the details, etc. They can RSVP directly to me if they are interested, https://www.southfloridaparks.org/event/volunteer-removal-of-dereli...

Let me know what you think and if you have any ideas on how to best spread the word!

Thanks!

So who's in? Already have commitments from several members of the EDEN/invitational crew, hope you can make it.

Think of it as an off season invitational!
