Discussion forming of a 3-4 day kayak paddle/drag SW from loop road (bend) of Sweetwater Slough/Creek.

Yes, I've heard it "peters out" SW of loop road.  Maps and aerials pre 1940 show sweetwater creek/river ran up to and beyond Loop Road.  I wonder if we set out and did some portaging, how far we could get?

Thoughts?

Excellent report and glad you were able to do so much with the limited time and high mileage you had to paddle to get to the area. I wonder in what year that chickee will be repaired. It was out last season and from the looks of it might not be available for this season :-(

A lot of those creeks are impassable due to mangrove wall blocking them. I do not think it is possible to cut through without park permission?

Jungle bay with that water flow looks very promising from satellite view.

Damn sawfish...

NEPA says, you can't put a piling in sawfish habitat, without a full NEPA assessment, hence the delays in Sweetwater & the on the platform crapper at Oyster.

The existing structures can't take the weight without additional pilings and putting in the pilings means paperwork & hearings...

WHAT!  AUGH! Makes a person feel like screaming!  Let's not plan on Sweetwater for another 5 years :-(  The crapper platform at Oyster could be remedied if they required permitted campers to carry WAG bags with them if they intend to spend the night at that chickee.

Baby, I'd rather have the crapper on the platform, than have the crap from the guy without a WAG bag...

This conversation has gone right in the toilet.

;-)

or out of it...that's the issue!

Sweetwater Bay Chickee is good to go!

No shit!
