Everglades Exploration Network

The South Florida Bushpaddlers Association is hosting the 2016 Florida Paddlers Rendezvous at Flamingo

This event is an annual event that brings together all the paddle clubs from the state, and beyond, to get together & paddle the heck out of a place. Picture 200-300 paddlers showing up to see what's out there.

This year's Rendezvous is commemorating the Centennial of the National Parks Service and the net proceeds will go to the South Florida National Parks Trust for their support of our parks.

We need everyone from the Everglades Deep Exploration Network to come out and participate! And since the DeepEx'rs know this area better than anyone, we need volunteers to help guide the outtatowners around the area.

Terry will be leading daily "Invitational Type" trips.

We need guides for our not so off the brochure trips, such as, Nine Mile (maybe on some with a swing out to Craigheads Pond), Noble (maybe on some with a swing out Still Creek to West Lake), and Mud Lake (maybe on some with a swing out to Spoonbill Pass). We especially need folks that know the off the brochure pieces, but even folks that have just paddled the standard routes once or twice would be great. Heck, even if you've never paddled the route, we can use a sweep!

Also, Esther was going to kickoff the whole extravaganza with an overnight trip out to the Cape, more details to follow.

Below is a notice from Esther setting out the details of the Rendezvous:

Bush Paddles has opened registration for this year's Paddler's Rendezvous at Everglades National Park. If you've never done this before here's you're opportunity for everything amazing about the glades. If you have, hurry up and register. Best sites go first.

To summarize the cost part:
Campsites are $65 for 3-nights
--Price is per site NOT per person.
--Each site accommodates 3 tents

Registration is $45 per person for three days worth of paddling.
Everyone MUST register regardless of how many paddles you participate or how much food you eat.
Friday Night: Cuban Luau - Pig Roast sponsored by Florida Paddling Trails Association
--For the vegetarians out there, and I know we have many, we will have a delicious fall veggie roast on Friday. This is compliments of Virginia Key Outdoor Center. It's our way of saying thank you for making our first year a great success. That also means come hungry. This will also be a vegan/gluten free meal option. Please be sure to send an email indicating your dietary restrictions.

What if you can only attend one day? Registration is still $45. This is a bargain and you are supporting the paddling community and the South Florida National Parks Trust.

All of the paddles are spectacular. Please register early. Additional paddles will be added as the scheduled events fill up.

Need a kayak, canoe or paddleboard? Let me know. Rentals will be available for those in need. Stay tuned for more details soon.
