I like that map.  The muck soil left behind from the Custard Apple trees, south of the lake, is amazingly black.

3- an 1869 post Seminole War era map. White man first accessed the Glades from Miami River where there actually was a section of rapids. There must have been canoe trails everywhere going to and fro the island hammocks.
