Everglades Exploration Network

Did Halfway Creek yesterday. Went down to where it joined the Left Hand Turner and exited at Everglades city.  Continued east around Chokoloskee back up the Left Hand Turner - back up Halfway Creek  and finished the loop trail back to the put in.  Basically a figure 8.

Of course - water levels quite high.  Halfway Creek loop is in good shape.  Halfway Creek between the loop and Left Hand Turner is pretty challenging.  Lots of dead-fall and some live-fall.  4 or 5 areas that took some serious finagling to get through.  Had to get out a couple of times.

Nice trip - subjective bug level - 2/10.  Some fun with 5-10lb Tarpon in the Left Hand Turner.  Lots of fun with Ladyfish down there too.

I did Halfway Creek the last week of September. Also did Turner river to Chokoloskee and then used Halfway Creek to get back to 41. Halfway Creek was nearly impassable in sections due to downed limbs and debris. Had to do a bit of bushwhacking to get through. Definitely needs some maintenance. Very nice paddle other than the roadblocks. Bugs levels were negligible. Was surprised at how deep Halfway Creek is most of the way.
