I'd eventually like to bike/kayak from Lake Okeechobee to Flamingo via canals, airboat trails and levees. I've been wanting to build a kayak trailer that will work.
Using a bicycle trailer hitch (type A), a fence post (horizontal top pipe, 34" in length), 1" square aluminum pipe, harbor freight wheels and 5/8" threaded bolt (30" long), a 1"X3" wooden cross member, and assorted bolts and nuts, I was able to come up with what feels like a sturdy, foldable, portable kayak trailer that uses the kayak's structure as the trailer while the wheels and hitch merely attach by racheting straps to the kayak.
The cost was about $60

How do you carry the bike in the kayak to keep moving south?
At this point, the bike will need to be stashed and locked. I would like to get a slightly larger kayak with a bow that would accept a kayaksailor rig (http://kayaksailor.com/ ) and a folding bike for the stern.
I'm still in the planning stage.
