Everglades Exploration Network

Still looking at a good possible single overnight paddle. Being on the east coast myself I thought this site might be a possibility? Anyone ever been to this site? Whats it like? How are the tides here? How bout the island itself? Whats its look like? Trees? Marsh? Marl? Mosquitoes?

I got an Earthmate Pn60 on Amazon for $231. It allows for aerial dowloads and other maps.  The desktop Topo software is a challenge but I'm learning. The aerial images are good and for $29 a year its unlimited dowloads of aerials, charts...Maybe you could swap yours.

Another option if you just want to get out of town and camp "remotely" via kayak is Short Key, about 3 miles west of the Card Sound bridge. Try to go on a weekday, otherwise you'll see this is Key Largo's "backyard" on the weekends .. nice camping though, picturesque.. even an all night glow from Turkey Point ..lol

Here's a couple of pics of Short Key:

It's not a part of ENP, so you don't need a permit, just bring an offering for the resident raccoon chief! ;)
