Time and Tide (current)

Allison and I did a trip from Turner River to Flamingo December 19 - 27 and maybe this info may be of use. Our itinerary was Turner River to Crooked Creek-Sweetwater-Turkey via Charley Creek- Highland- Harney-Shark-North-Hells Bay- Flamingo. We seemed to be against wind and tide most of the time. The time between sites was 5 1/2 to 6 hours. One odd thing was even though the tide was falling there was a noticeable current coming in Charleys Creek which made it easier dealing with the branches. Also going up Harney River towards Tarpon Bay with a rising tide there was still a strong out going current. The wind for the whole trip was basically south east. We were a paddling an old beat up dented Gruman (which I love) but at least we were ballasted for up wind travel.
