Everglades Exploration Network

This past weekend I stayed in Hells Bay chickee for an overnight, get away and do a little fishing. Since the winds were high we decided not to take the usual Coot Bay pond, Coot Bay Whitewater Bay to the East River route and instead do the Hells Bay trail. After about an hour I get pretty bored and frustrated with this trail and my mind started wandering, is there an alternative to this trail?  There seems to be numerous ponds and connectors that end up near Lard Can.  Has anyone tried an off trail route?

BTW:  We had a group of six people on the next platform. They came in late, had way too much fun and brought an obnoxious radio.  So much for finding a bit of peace and quiet in the wilderness and wanting to get away from the city noise.

What are you doing?!?!? There's lots of ways and alternatives and routes through the jungles and points south...but don't get him started.

Bump.....is he reading this :-)

Don't you hate how google earth has flamingo area under clouds when viewing with the iPad?

High winds???What high winds???  LOL.... We spent four days getting from Highland Beach back to EC.  The wind pushed ALL the water out of Lostmans Bay..Guess what time we got there..low tide...aagh.

Can't wait to hear your trip report! LOL! All these high pressure systems are keeping the cold fronts from getting down here but make the winds pretty high for paddling. I am using all my wind routes this season as I refuse to stay home.

if there is another great path found, I propose it shall be named "Angel's Creek"..

Vivian,

Doesn't your iPad give you the "historical" images option?

PS... sent you a PM
