Charlie Creek after Irma

I was talking to a Kayak guide and he said the mouth of Charlie Creek is blocked. He said that fishing guides told him it is blocked also which I took to mean Gopher Creek above Gopher Key. I'm not sure if I got that part right or not.

Great "summer read" on NPS Centennial

Hello all,

Looking for a good "summer read?"

Here's a timely one, too.

Among other things it touches on the NPS Centennial, the Big Cypress Swamp.  It chronicles the "day in a life" of a ranger that turns into anything but that.

Thank You!

Thanks for approving my membership! My wife and I winter just outside Everglades City and I have spent a good deal of time kayaking the waters of Cypress, the Everglades and the 10,000 Island area the past 6 winters.  This winter's highlight will be my grandson and I doing the Everglades Wilderness Waterway!  I hope to maybe benefit from y'all's experience before heading out.  So, any advice I'm more than open, and after it's over I'll certainly let you know how it went.  Again, thanks for…

Fakahatchee Bay

Does anybody know if there are any spots to camp in Fakahatchee Bay area. I am paddling down there from Cape Coral the first week of March (weather permitting}. I have never fished or explored this area, so I would like to spend a few days in there. I'm going to be down there for my annual 2 week trip fishing and camping.

Evergades Canoe Journey Video

Just over a year ago, my son and I lashed the canoe atop our mini van, crossed the border and drove south for two days from Ontario, Canada to the town of Everglades City in South Florida.  We then headed out on a 6 day adventure in Everglades National Park.  We ended up canoeing 3 days south along the Wilderness Waterway Trail   then swinging north and heading up the coast in the Gulf of Mexico for 3 more days before heading back to Everglades City.  We had great weather…
