If you have a cell phone, what kind of reception do you get down in Flamingo or out on the Loop Rd? What service do you use? I have Verizon, and they have no service in Flamingo and coverage is iffy in the Cypress. I can actually see a cell tower from Mitchells Landing but reception is very weak and calls drop all the time. My contract with them is up and I'm thinking about changing to a different service. What do you use?

Keith, about the specific areas you speak of, I am not completely certain, but my experience with ATT is that it provides wider service than Verizon. I've gotten signals all along the Tamiami, Chokoloskee Bay and some points in the backcountry and definitely in Flamingo.

Thanks Connie, I've been looking at ATT. They bought out Cingular which is why they have coverage in Flamingo. I was talking to one of the rangers a couple of years ago and he says the reason Cingular put up an antenna in Flamingo was because a Cingular top executive was fishing the area and couldn't get out on his own cell.
I can't get any reception from Verizon at Flamingo but my friends that have AT&T can. In the Big Cypress and certain areas out of Everglades City and outside islands to Mormon, Verizon works. You can probably do better to get AT&T when you switch for more coverage.

I love the story about the executive from Cingular, LOL!
