I have been looking @ charts and aerial views of Charlie Creek, and it looks like you could make it into Gopher Key from the west (Turkey Key area). Is this possible in a kayak or canoe?

I was also wanting to find the island where the Browns used to operate their distilery. Does anyone know where that is?

The last time I took Charlie Creek was in 2002 and it was open and a very good "off the normal path" route.
There's a brief on it in "Trail Conditions - Everglades" on this website. Go back to "Forum" and you'll see
the "Trail Conditions" discussion. If you paddle Charlie Creek please report back in "Trail Conditions".
Alan Coulter reported Charlie Creek open in late December 2008. Some minor blowdown from storms was cleared at that time.

I've been around Liquor Still Bay a couple of times and never located Totch's still setup. I have the DVD of the reenactment he did with Deborah Smith Ford at the still site. Between storms and the Park service there may be nothing left by now.
