After 3 days of canoeing and battling the wind and waves in Whitewater Bay we tried some landside adventure down in Flamingo.

My son and I, trail biked the Rowdy Bend and Snake Bight trails down near Flamingo. You'll saw a mix of salt hammock, marsh, then turned around at Florida Bay.We rented bikes at Flamingo and made the 12 mile round trip in 2 hours.

Rowdy Bend was ruff and rowdy. The ground was hard enough to ride, but in the marsh area the grass was to high to ride. We almost turned back after 45 minutes of huffing and puffing on the trail. Max said what if we are like 100 yards away from the connection with Snake Bight Trail. So we ventured on, good thing. Snake Bight was only 100 FEET away! Snake Bight was very easy and open. Its a nice ride to the FL Bay boardwalk. A few bugs in the shade, but we kept moving. Good adventure to try out when the wind makes paddling tuff.

My boyfriend and I did Rowdy Bend by bike just last week-end and I have the same report as Amazon Bill... Hard to get through the high grass with a" narrower than I remember" path. It was mostly dry though and the coastal prairie makes it worth the exercise! Spotted the swirling white pelicans and some spoonbill at the end of Snake Bight... along with a flock of snowbirds.

Glad you enjoyed it. If we could get mower to make one pass on the Rowdy trail, you could stay on the bike through the whole trail.

Ha ha! I was thinking the same thing!
