Thank you for adding me to your wonderful site.

I purchased my first canoe last month and i have already been on two 3 night back-country trips into the everglades, I AM HOOKED.  The first trip was awesome and not many bugs not to hot neither, second trip was hotter and more bugs but i still had a blast! i cant wait for winter!  ive been buying books and reading any bit of info i can get my hands on about the everglades backcountry. but the two books i got left me wanting more so can any of you recommend a good book/field guide?

What books do you have?
Yep, list books you already have. I like Johnny Molloys guides and still refer to them.

the books i have, Paddling the everglades wilderness waterway and Everglades Wildguide.

thanks

Check out 'Day Paddling Florida's 10,000 Islands and Big Cypress Swamp' by Jeff Ripple.

It has some good information in it. Of course, always bring proper maps and a compass when following the routes in the book, just in case. Some of the info could be slightly outdated.

Adrian,

Hello and welcome!

Have you heard the term "Standing on a whale and fishing for minnows"?

Finding this site and asking about books on paddling the Everglades!

I'm not trying to be sarcastic (well maybe), but I think the best information available on that subject is actually right here.

You may want to start with Vivian's trip reports. From there you will find Connie's. There are others too.

Exploring here will help you explore out there more than the "did that trip once - here's a map" books.
