Hi all,

I'm new to the site.  I am lucky I found this forum as I try to paddle in the Everglades every couple of years.  Reading through many of your posts has given me some great advice and ideas.  I live in Chicago and have limited paddling experience.  I don't yet have my own craft, but I've been pretty happy with the rentals I've used.  I'm still undecided on the canoe vs. kayak debate, but I think I'm leaning more toward owning a kayak at some point in the future.

I just returned from a 7 day ww paddle with my daughter.  She's a trooper who gets dragged on some crazy adventures with me.  I'll create a separate post to share some info from our trip.

Welcome to the site.  I look forward to reading your trip report.  I have two daughters (22&25) and one of them has expressed interest in coming along on a couple of night trip - I look forward to making that a reality.

Canoe vs Kayak is an interesting debate.  They both have their strengths and weaknesses.  Good on you for not diving in and getting one without complete evaluation of your needs.
