Everglades Exploration Network

Hello All,

I'm looking over my maps and satellite photos of my upcoming trip March 8th, and was wondering if anyone has gone straight from Lard can to Hells bay bypassing Pearl Bay. It looks like there is a pretty staight forward route, but just making sure. We're getting dropped off at the Hells Bay canoe trail

Thanks!

Have you got a jpg of the route you're looking at?

Thanks, but never mind- I just realized that Google Earth has Lard Can in the wrong spot on their map!

Tony

Here it is on Google Earth

You're way off. Lard Can is SE of Pearl Bay.

Zoom in on the latest aerials and you can see the new dock and boardwalk

Thanks - I realized that after I posted the messege, better than realizing it on the water :)

yes there is a route about midway up the last bay heading to Pearl Bay that cuts to Hells Bay

Thanks - I'll look for it and see if I can find it

Bill - Is this what you're talking about?Have you done something like that?!

I have not done the route in the photo. That route may be possible if that one leg goes through. My son tried to get me to reroute on the fly to try an entry into the South side of Hells Bay, through a route similar to yours. The 11 am start with a night of 39 degrees coming kept us to the posted PVC trail.  The photo attached shows an easy north cut from north Hells Bay to North Pearl Bay. I like the many routes availabe in this backcounty.

I've tried that route Terry and it didn't seem to go.

Ya, that's what I figured but it was the only possible route from the aerials.
