Flamingo lodge pool 1967
Ahh, a nice dip in the pool. We stayed there many times. I was able to share the lodge with my family in May before the Hurricanes tore it up. Glad they're planning on putting something else down there.

Yes, I believe hurricane Betsy had come through in '65, possibly just before the picture at Buttonwood, 2 years before the lodge picture. I'm looking forward to a new lodge so I can bring my non-acclimated family down to explore that area yet have refuge from the heat as needed.

Look past the lodge at how open it was...not nearly the amount of vegetation we have now (or at least pre-2005)!
Then again if you look at the buttonwood picture you see some trees that appear to have lost their tops & the veg looks pretty thin there too. Maybe this was after a storm thinned the treelife some.
