I think I saw my first Florida Panther!! on May 16th about 7:45 am up on SR 60, about 1.2 miles west of Rifle Range Road. Dusty's RV dealer is on the corner. It was during that 5 day run of nasty weather, overcast and rainy, with lots of dear and hog on SR 60 that morning. The alleged panther crossed the 200 foot wide roadway right of way in about 2.5 seconds, hugging the ground contours like a Ferrari sports car. The body was 5-6 feet long, low to the ground. Legs blended in with the fur, with a long stretched out run. Head and tail were not easily to separate from the body. Fur was that panther colored sandy tan on top and lighter blonde on the bottom.  It made it into the woods. Anybody have panther telemetry for that area? A Google Earth pin is below.  27°54'49.85"N and 81°44'41.63"W. I am counting is as a sighting!  Also saw a 300+ pound hog.

Why cant I open your attachment?  Any suggestions?

the file is a Google Earth pin. If you have GE, it should put the target in GE and take you there. I just double clicked on the icon on this page then said yes when it asked to open GE. The Lat Long is in text in message, so you could just use that info.

OK. I thought it was a picture.  All I know is that several males have crossed the Caloosahatchee River looking for new territory so its certainly possible.  Im not sure why the cat crossed the road hugging the ground. The long legs and tail were visible on the cats I have seen  but I havent seen that many..

I saw the legs, they were cat like and running very fast like a house cat chasing something. More of a low profile full sprint, than say a hugging crawl. The cat was 300 yards in front of me, crossing in front of two big trucks ahead of me about 100 yards.
