Friends of the Wilderness Waterway?

I hope that everybody saw Terry's comment on creating a Friends of the Wilderness Waterway group in his report of his trip last week. I'd like to open a general discussion on this topic to get your thoughts and ideas. Let us all know what you think!

Sounds good to me: More information on this project would be great.
It hard to find information on the subject I found my self reading books to try to find paths.
I was happy to find this site.

Follow the topic 'Wilderness Waterway Plus' under the discussion 'Exploring the Everglades'.
I introduced the idea of a 'friends group' to participate in general management planning.
Fishermen have various support groups representing them, so do commercial users but
there isn't a group that specifically represents the Wilderness Waterway paddlers.
This could be very helpful in steering closures, opening/closing of campsites, chickee
construction, maintenance, etc. Also a friends group (maybe gladesgodeep is already that
group) could organize volunteer participation to assist in maintaining the WW and other
trails. With the hand propelled usage growing within the park their voices need to collectively
be heard.

Wilderness Waterway Plus concept is a great idea. I think it is important to keep this information moving forward, and to help push projects forward. I even don't mind putting time into these projects be it cutting, hacking (Computer/Mangroves),document, or working on the Everglades matrix.

I think there are many people like myself who love this place, and getting out to the Glades, but lack the information to move forward in a safe way. Also I have talk to people from other countries, and parts of the US who lack the tools to prepare for such a trip, but would love to complete one. \

Also I thought I might provide the following: I have found more information on this site, and Glades Diary site then in almost any other site to date.

I'll second that, you guys have done a great job! My wife rues the day I found this site as I've already begun preparing a spot in my back patio for the "transverse glades skiff"
