Everglades Exploration Network

Here are some photos from the launching of the Everglades Challenge this past weekend. Many of the paddlers are now working their way through the ENP heading to checkpoint 3 in Flamingo.  Sea conditions were horrendous during the first 2 days of the race, several had to drop out, one was rescued by the coast guard (and is currently back in the race).

Thanks for the pics Connie.  Wish I could have made it this year.
that looks so cool.  What a great adventure.

Below is a link to the Watertribe's website.  I did the shorter UM race in 2009 & 2010 under the tribal name "Spiritwalker".  If you're interested in doing it I would recommend doing the shorter UM race first.

An update from the Everglades Challenge, provided by Thereandbackagain:

Updating the number of DNFs this year. The EC this year started with 71 boats at the start.  37 boats have now resigned from the Race.  The lastest is Kokopedal & sirtackalot due to equipment failure.  I encourage the team to return next year.  They had made it to Flamingo in good time and showed an impressive race to this point.  There have been 12 boats that have finished in Key Largo so far.  There are still 22 out there keeping the excitement going. Good luck and adventures to all.
