Hi folks,
I compiled all the photos from our late February trip, made them into a slideshow with a rockin' zydeco soundtrack, and posted them online at

you may need to download a plug-in to view, but it is benign...Also, it sometimes has trouble with Firefox browser...
happy paddling!

I put it on You Tube, quality not as good, but easier:
Thanks David. I enjoyed it. Did you lose anything in the "incident?" You look really loaded down.
That was on halfway creek before we started our loop. we delayed a day because of weather, so we did a day trip without all the gear. the only damage other than to my dignity was to my nice, non-waterproof binoculars, which were trashed. I drove into Naples that night to the walmart and got a pair for the rest of the trip...
Having flipped did freak us out a little (we were done in by an overhanging branch that caught in my wife's hair) on the open Gulf the next day, but we had so much ballast we were hard to turn over. If we HAD, it would have been a catastrophe of biblical proportions...
well, the Creed of Ultra-Heavy Canoe Camping mandates that anything less than too much is not enough...
I can't think of anything we didnt use, so I guess I would bring all of it next time. The first day was the hardest, since we were fully loaded with all our water and food, plus had the long slog to Pavilion against the wind. It got easier as we went along.
We are doing a 5-6 night trip in the Ozarks in May with 3 other couples; I expect we will carry pretty much the same load, although we can resupply water and ice along the way there. Downhill current the whole way makes it nice!
love the bocci balls. That's the way to do it. Best camping trips I've had down there were at Carl Ross and I just parked on the beach for 4 days and explored one area thoroughly, no breaking camp until it was time to leave.
